Ola Electric Mobility shares gained 4.38% on August 28 after Chairman and Managing Director Bhavish Aggarwal announced the new S1Z electric scooter, priced at an introductory ₹79,999.
The scooter uses Ola’s in-house developed 46160 LFP Bharat Cell and claims an IDC range of 301 km, with deliveries scheduled to begin in December 2026. The S1Z launch is part of Ola Electric’s strategy to develop key components internally.
Aggarwal said the company has built the cell, motor, vehicle, software and other critical components in-house. The company is positioning the scooter for mass-market customers while bringing its internally developed battery technology to a lower price point.
New S1Z
The S1Z’s 301 km claimed IDC range compares with the 146 km range offered by the earlier S1 Z dual-battery setup. Its introductory price of ₹79,999 is higher than the legacy S1 Z+’s starting price of ₹64,999.
The company said its 46160 LFP Bharat Cell is indigenously developed, with the battery technology manufactured at Ola’s Gigafactory. The S1Z is available with a 3.1 kWh variant priced at ₹79,999, while the 5.1 kWh variant is priced at ₹99,999; the 3.1 kWh version is scheduled for deliveries from December 2026 and the 5.1 kWh version from March 2027.
Ola said its electric vehicle market share reached 8.4% in Q1 FY27, up from 5.1% in Q4 FY26. The company’s move towards in-house production covers the cell, motor, chassis, software and other critical components, forming part of its vertical integration strategy.

TVS moves ahead
The S1Z launch comes as TVS Motor has overtaken Ola Electric in cumulative domestic electric two-wheeler registrations, according to Vahan data. TVS has registered 11,27,873 e2Ws, compared with Ola’s 11,17,031, giving it a lead of 10,842 units.
TVS registered 3,42,958 electric two-wheelers in 2026 YTD, up 75% from the corresponding period in 2025. Ola, meanwhile, has registered 88,910 e2Ws between January 1 and August 24, giving it around 7% of the market so far this year. TVS and Ola together account for around 22.45 lakh cumulative e2W registrations, or roughly 40% of India’s cumulative sales since 2020.
