What is the story about?
From aviation to Parliament and markets, it has been a busy day with several big-ticket developments. The Competition Commission of India has decided to probe IndiGo following the mass cancellation of flights earlier this month. It comes even as CEO Pieter Elbers told employees that the worst is behind the airline, with operations now back to around 2,200 flights a day.
In the Lok Sabha, the government pushed through a revamp of MGNREGA amid noisy Opposition protests. The Bill raises the guaranteed work days to 125, but shifts more of the financial burden to states, which will now have to bear 40% of the total cost.
Parliament also passed the Atomic Energy Bill, opening the nuclear sector to private players and allowing up to 49% FDI, prompting an Opposition walkout.
On the regulatory front, the Securities Market Code Bill has been sent to a parliamentary panel after sharp criticism.
In markets, SEBI’s softer-than-feared mutual fund cost overhaul lifted AMC stocks, while Ola Electric shares hit fresh lows after founder Bhavish Aggarwal sold over ₹324 crore worth of stock in three days.
Elsewhere, US President Donald Trump defended his tariff push while announcing a “military dividend”.
