Samsung India public affairs head Rajiv Aggarwal resigns after nearly four years

Samsung India's head of public affairs and ESG, Rajiv Aggarwal, has resigned after nearly four years with the South Korean electronics giant, Reuters reported on Tuesday, September 15, citing two sources familiar with the matter.

Aggarwal, 57, is serving his final week at Samsung India, the sources said, declining to be identified as the details of his departure are confidential. The reason for his resignation was not immediately clear.

A former Indian bureaucrat, Aggarwal has also worked at Uber and Meta. At Samsung, he oversaw the company's relationship with the Indian government.

Aggarwal declined to comment, while Samsung Electronics did not respond to queries.

Samsung and Apple have recently faced demands from the Indian government to pre-install state-run apps on their devices, which the companies have opposed on privacy grounds.

Samsung is also among companies that have challenged in court an Indian government policy that increases businesses' payments to electronic-waste recyclers.

The company has a 16.2% share of India's smartphone market, level with Oppo and just behind market leader Vivo. Samsung was India's No. 1 smartphone player in 2023.

Rajiv Aggarwal’s career

Before joining Samsung, Rajiv Aggarwal worked on public policy at Meta and Uber. He also spent several years in government as an Indian Administrative Service officer, working in various administrative roles before moving to the corporate sector, according to Firstpost.

Samsung identified Aggarwal as senior vice president for public affairs and ESG at Samsung Southwest Asia in a company announcement in 2025. Reuters reported that Aggarwal, 57, had also worked at Uber and Meta before joining Samsung.

His resignation comes after earlier changes in Samsung India’s public policy team. In April 2023, three public policy executives at the company resigned within a week, Reuters had reported at the time.

Samsung has not announced a successor to Aggarwal.
