Tata Steel Ltd on Wednesday (January 7) reported provisional production and delivery volumes for the third quarter of FY2026, with its India operations recording the best-ever quarterly performance.
In Q3FY26, Tata Steel India’s crude steel production rose to 6.34 million tonnes (MT), compared with 5.65 MT in Q2FY26 and 5.69 MT in Q3FY25. Production increased 12% quarter-on-quarter and year-on-year, aided by higher output at the Jamshedpur and Kalinganagar facilities. For the nine months ended FY2026,
India production stood at 17.23 MT, up from 16.23 MT in the corresponding period last year.
Improved production translated into record quarterly deliveries for Tata Steel India, which crossed the six-million tonne mark for the first time. Deliveries in Q3FY26 rose to 6.04 MT, up from 5.55 MT in the previous quarter and 5.29 MT a year ago.

This represented a 9% sequential increase and a 14% rise year-on-year, supported by strong domestic sales. For 9MFY26, India deliveries increased to 16.34 MT from 15.34 MT in 9MFY25.
Within domestic deliveries, the automotive & special products vertical achieved best-ever quarterly volumes of around 0.9 MT, with volumes rising 20% year-on-year. Growth was supported by faster OEM approvals for hi-tensile grades from downstream facilities at Kalinganagar and specialty steel from the combi-mill at Jamshedpur. On a nine-month basis, volumes in this segment were up 5% year-on-year.
The branded products & retail vertical crossed two million tonnes for the first time, with Q3FY26 volumes rising 12% year-on-year, driven by brands such as Tata Tiscon, Tata Astrum and Tata Steelium. Volumes for the segment increased 4% year-on-year in 9MFY26.
The industrial products & projects vertical recorded volumes of about 1.9 MT, supported by engineering segments. Engineering posted best-ever nine-month volumes, aided by international certifications for segments such as oil and gas and shipbuilding. On a nine-month basis, the vertical grew 3% year-on-year.

During the quarter, Tata Steel continued progress on value-added and downstream initiatives, with tubes and tinplate posting double-digit year-on-year growth and wires recording best-ever quarterly volumes. Gross merchandise value from e-commerce platforms Tata Steel Aashiyana and DigECA stood at ₹2,380 crore in Q3FY26, up 68% year-on-year.
In Europe, Tata Steel Netherlands reported liquid steel production of 1.68 MT and deliveries of 1.40 MT in Q3FY26, with lower sequential deliveries due to seasonal factors and subdued market conditions.
Tata Steel UK delivered 0.52 MT during the quarter through the downstream processing of purchased substrate, while enabling works for the EAF project progressed. Tata Steel Thailand recorded saleable steel production of 0.31 MT and deliveries of 0.29 MT, with deliveries improving 5% year-on-year on strong domestic rebar demand.
Shares of Tata Steel Ltd ended at ₹183.55, down by ₹2.65, or 1.42%, on the BSE today, January 7.
