What is the story about?
Walmart CEO John Furner has pitched aggressively for India's capability in export and quick commerce market in his maiden visit to India.
Furner said the country represents "one of the most dynamic opportunities in global commerce," Moneycontrol reported from Walmart’s Growth Summit 2026 in New Delhi.
“We’ve already sourced more than $40 billion in goods from India and are focused on strengthening entrepreneur and supplier capabilities, raising compliance and quality standards, and helping scale manufacturing so more Indian businesses are ready to export,” he told an audience of exporters, MSMEs and supply chain partners.
Separately, during a townhall in Bengaluru, Furner expressed confidence in India's fast growing quick commerce market, saying it is increasingly becoming a habit Indian consumers find hard to wean off.
