Bosch Q1 profit falls 37% on high base, but revenue jumps 22% and margins improve

Germany-hailing industrial major Bosch reported a 36.8% year-on-year decline in consolidated profit after tax (PAT) attributable to owners of the company at ₹705 crore for the first quarter of financial year 2026-27, compared with ₹1,115 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago.

The decline in the bottom line came despite a strong operating performance, with consolidated revenue from operations rising 22% year-on-year to ₹5,841.9 crore from ₹4,788.6 crore. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased 28.4% to ₹821.1 crore from ₹639.3 crore, while EBITDA margin improved to 14.1% from 13.4%.

The year-on-year comparison was also affected by a ₹556 crore exceptional gain recognised in the June quarter of financial year 2025-26 following the sale of Bosch’s video solutions, access and intrusions, and communication systems business. There was no such exceptional gain in the latest quarter.

Sequential performance improves

On a quarter-on-quarter basis, Bosch's consolidated PAT attributable to owners increased 24% from ₹568.5 crore in the March quarter. Revenue from operations grew 5% from ₹5,565.7 crore.

The improvement in operating profitability comes as the company continues to see demand across its automotive businesses. Bosch said revenue growth in the June quarter was driven by higher demand in passenger cars and the off-highway segment.

Commenting on the performance, Guruprasad Mudlapur, President of the Bosch Group in India and Managing Director of Bosch Limited, said the first quarter was driven by “sustained demand across segments”, particularly in passenger cars and commercial vehicles, along with increased sales in key product categories.

“India's automotive sector is undergoing a structural shift towards safer, cleaner and personalized vehicles. At Bosch, we are well positioned to support this transition by delivering high-value, future-ready solutions,” Mudlapur added.

Automotive products remain key growth driver

The automotive products segment continued to account for the bulk of Bosch’s consolidated revenue. Segment revenue rose 23.3% year-on-year to ₹5,234.4 crore in the June quarter from ₹4,246.3 crore, while segment results increased to ₹745.9 crore from ₹615.9 crore.

The company’s consumer goods business also reported growth, with revenue rising 20.9% to ₹520.8 crore from ₹430.8 crore. Segment results increased to ₹56.8 crore from ₹36.7 crore.

The ‘Others’ segment was the only major business to report a decline in revenue. Its revenue fell 22.9% year-on-year to ₹88.4 crore from ₹114.6 crore, while segment results declined to ₹26 crore from ₹28.5 crore.

Overall segment revenue stood at ₹5,843.6 crore during the quarter, compared with ₹4,791.7 crore a year earlier. After accounting for inter-segment revenue, consolidated revenue from operations stood at ₹5,841.9 crore.

Bosch also highlighted strong growth in its automotive product sales, which increased 25.7% year-on-year, while its Power Solutions business grew 29% during the quarter.

Shares of the company ended 0.31% higher at ₹43,085 ahead of its June quarter results announcement on Monday.
