Tata Steel Q4 Update: India crude steel production rise 15%, volumes surge

Tata Steel reported a strong operational performance in its Q4 and FY26 business update released on Tuesday, April 7, led by robust growth in India.

In Q4 FY26, India crude steel production rose 14.9% YoY to 6.25 million tonnes from 5.44 million tonnes, while deliveries increased 10.5% YoY to 6.19 million tonnes.

For the full year, Tata Steel India achieved its highest-ever crude steel production at 23.48 million tonnes, up 8% YoY. The growth was driven by the ramp-up at Kalinganagar, partially offset by the shutdown of the 'G' blast furnace at Jamshedpur for relining.

Deliveries in India also hit a record high of 22.53 million tonnes for FY26, rising in line with production. Domestic deliveries crossed the 20 million tonne mark for the first time. Q4 deliveries also marked a record quarterly high.

On the international front, Tata Steel Netherlands reported FY26 liquid steel production of 6.7 million tonnes and deliveries of 6.1 million tonnes. Q4 deliveries rose 21% sequentially to 1.7 million tonnes.

In the UK, the company continued to serve customers through downstream processing of purchased substrate.

FY26 deliveries stood at 2.2 million tonnes, lower YoY due to weak market conditions. Work on the 3 MTPA electric arc furnace at Port Talbot is progressing.

Tata Steel Thailand reported saleable steel production of 1.33 million tonnes and deliveries of 1.32 million tonnes for FY26, with deliveries rising 11% YoY, driven by strong domestic rebar demand.
