Today is the monthly expiry of the Sensex contracts. The bulls would be hoping that the earlier trend of not having follow-up buying after a strong session does not repeat, but looking at the handover from Wall Street and the rise in oil prices, the risks to the downside have emerged again. Brent is back above the $90 a barrel mark, while bond yields in the US have seen a sharp jump after the Fed policy. 24,000 on the downside will be key for the Nifty, while the July 17 high of 24,367 will be the first hurdle to cross on the upside. The Nifty Bank has taken a backseat after the IT outperformance, but it remains to be seen whether IT could hold fort for another day today. Supply for the Nifty Bank could emerge again at 57,500 mark. Another heavy day on the earnings front beckons with M&M, Bajaj Finance, Data Patterns, Mazagon Dock among others reporting numbers.
