According to preliminary details, Air India flight AI2732, operated using an Airbus A320 aircraft registered VT-TYF, was taxiing from C1 towards M4 for departure to Coimbatore when it came into contact with an arriving IndiGo Airbus A320 aircraft registered VT-IFV. The IndiGo aircraft was operating flight 6E 791 from Hyderabad to Mumbai and was taxiing while joining taxiway B1 after landing.
During the taxiing manoeuvre, the right wingtips of both aircraft made contact. Both aircraft were moving at the time of the incident. Following the collision, the two aircraft returned to their respective bays for inspections. No injuries were reported, and all passengers on board both flights were safe.

Officials from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation reached the site soon after the incident. Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
In a statement issued later, IndiGo confirmed that the wingtip of its aircraft operating flight 6E 791 from Hyderabad to Mumbai came into contact with another airline’s aircraft while taxiing after landing.
The airline said all passengers were safe and disembarked after parking, and that the aircraft is undergoing maintenance inspections. IndiGo added that relevant authorities were promptly informed and the matter is being investigated, reiterating that safety and security remain its highest priority.

Air India, in a separate statement, said its Mumbai–Coimbatore flight AI2732 was delayed after the aircraft scheduled to operate the service came into contact with another airline’s aircraft while waiting on the taxiway prior to take-off.
The airline said the wingtips of the two aircraft made contact, resulting in damage to its aircraft’s wingtip. As a precautionary measure, the aircraft has been grounded for further technical checks, passengers were safely disembarked, and alternative arrangements are being made to fly them to their destination at the earliest. Air India said the incident has been reported to the regulator and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused.
