What is the story about?
Vedanta has been declared the successful bidder for the Punnam Manganese Block in Andhra Pradesh after fulfilling the required statutory compliances, the company said in an exchange filing on Friday, August 14.
The company received the letter confirming the successful bid on August 13, 2026, at 2:46 pm IST.
The Punnam Manganese Block spans 152 hectares and is currently at the G4 stage of exploration.
Vedanta said the acquisition will further strengthen its diversified metals and mining portfolio while supporting India's growing manganese requirements by enhancing domestic resource availability and reducing dependence on imports.
The development comes as India seeks to strengthen domestic supplies of key minerals and reduce reliance on imports for critical industrial inputs.
Q1 Results

Revenue declined 1.6% sequentially to ₹24,205 crore from ₹24,609 crore. However, improved operational efficiency supported a stronger bottom line.
