What is the story about?
Uber India and South Asia President Prabhjeet Singh has stepped down after almost 11 years with the ride-hailing company, marking the end of a long leadership stint in one of Uber’s key global regions.
Singh led Uber’s India and South Asia operations through a period of rapid expansion and structural change, including the company’s deeper push into multiple mobility segments and strengthening its presence across competitive urban markets. He was appointed President of the region in 2020 and oversaw strategy across India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.
During his tenure, Uber expanded beyond core cab-hailing services, focusing on two-wheelers, improved driver engagement systems, and enhanced user safety features, as the company adapted to India’s highly price-sensitive and fast-evolving mobility landscape.
Confirming the development, an Uber spokesperson told CNBC-TV18 that India continues to be central to the company’s global strategy.
“India is one of Uber’s most important markets globally, an important driver of innovation and long-term growth,” the spokesperson said. “The strength of our business today reflects the incredible team and foundation built over the years. We thank Prabhjeet for his leadership and lasting contributions in his decade-long journey with Uber - we remain deeply committed to our next phase of growth in India.”
The company did not announce Singh’s successor or immediate plans for the leadership transition.
