PhonePe users to get ChatGPT access within the app; here's how

Digital payments company PhonePe has announced a collaboration with OpenAI to make ChatGPT accessible to Indian users across its ecosystem, including the PhonePe app, PhonePe for Business, and the Indus Appstore.

The partnership aims to expand the reach of generative artificial intelligence (AI) by allowing users to explore ChatGPT’s features directly within the PhonePe platform.

This integration is expected to help consumers access AI-powered assistance for everyday needs such as travel planning, shopping, and information discovery.

The collaboration marks one of the first large-scale efforts to embed ChatGPT into a major Indian consumer platform, potentially accelerating AI adoption in the country. It also opens opportunities for new use cases as generative AI tools gain traction among digital users.

Rahul Chari, Founder and Chief Technology Officer at PhonePe, said the alliance stresses the potential of partnerships to extend advanced technology to a wider audience.

“This collaboration demonstrates how companies can work together to expand the reach of cutting-edge technology at population scale,” Chari said.

Oliver Jay, Head of International at OpenAI, said the collaboration reflects the growing importance of India in global AI adoption.
