The Nifty index is surging, crossing and therefore setting a new record high mark of 26,310.85. The index is trading with gains of around 100 points. The Nifty, after a 20% recovery from the April lows, managed to scale a new peak last Thursday.

The Sensex index is also on the rise, hitting a new record high, as the index is now trading around the 86,000 mark.

Auto sales numbers get reported today and tomorrow, and after the festive bump-up, all eyes will be on whether that demand has been sustained. Bajaj Auto, SML Mahindra, and Escorts have already reported their numbers for November.

The Nifty Bank hit another record high, surging past the 60,100 mark

Watch out for the broader market breadth, the IPO rush which returns to Dalal Street, and movement in commodity prices such as oil, Gold and Silver.
