The Nifty heads into the monthly expiry session of the BSE contracts on the back of renewed optimism of a trade deal between India and the US. The index is 200 points shy of its all-time high of 26,277 but Jerome Powell may turn out to be a spoilsport.

The Fed Chair, cut rates by 25 basis points on expected lines, but said that a cut in December is not a "foregone conclusion." This spooked Wall Street as the Dow Jones fell 400 points from the highs to end lower.

This will also put the spotlight on a lot of midcap IT stocks, which had rallied earlier this week in hopes of more rate cuts. All eyes are also on the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, ahead of which US futures are witnessing volatile moves. Infra major L&T reacts to results that missed estimates due to extended monsoons, while HPCL, LIC Housing Finance, NTPC Green, PB Fintech, RailTel, United Breweries will also react to results.

Today's session will see stocks such as Cipla, Bandhan Bank, Canara Bank, Carborundum, Dabur, Datamatics, DLF, Hyundai Motor India, IEX, IIFL Finance, Motilal Oswal, NTPC, Navin Fluorine, Swiggy, Union Bank and others report results. Wednesday's high of 26,097 is the first level to watch on the Nifty, while Tuesday's low of 25,811 remains a key support.
