Hatsun Agro reports accidental WhatsApp post of draft Q3 financials

Dairy products maker Hatsun Agro Product Ltd on Monday (January 5) informed stock exchanges about the temporary and unintentional posting of draft financial information on WhatsApp by one of its key managerial personnel (KMP).

In a regulatory filing, the company said the incident occurred on January 4, 2026, at around 5 pm, when the KMP inadvertently uploaded the first-cut draft of the unaudited financial statements for the quarter ended December 31, 2025, to his personal WhatsApp status. The draft figures were being shared internally with the accounts department at the time.

The company said the draft information, which "may constitute certain Unpublished Price Sensitive Information of the Company," was visible to around 19 people in the KMP’s contact list, including some insiders of the company. Upon becoming aware of the incident, the WhatsApp status was deleted within an hour.

Hatsun Agro said the figures were "in a very draft form and are subject to changes during the ongoing limited review process." It added that, "as a precautionary measure and in compliance with the philosophy of the Company of following the high degree of corporate governance, we are reporting this incident to the Stock Exchanges."

The company said it will shortly inform the audit committee and the board of directors about the incident. It is also initiating an internal inquiry in line with the SEBI (Prohibition of Insider Trading) Regulations, 2015, and the company’s insider trading code. Once the inquiry is completed and the inquiry committee submits its report, the company said it will forward the same to the stock exchanges.

Additionally, Hatsun Agro said it is in the process of including all persons who viewed the alleged unpublished price-sensitive information in the structured digital database maintained by the company.

Shares of Hatsun Agro Product Ltd ended at ₹960.00, down by ₹1.62, or 15.85%, on the BSE.
