What is the story about?
Good morning!
Oil markets are entering uncharted territory. JPMorgan analysts say they “simply don't know how to model for the end game in Iran”, making it difficult to establish a base-case scenario for crude prices nearly seven months into the war.
Geopolitics remains in focus beyond oil. The US has granted visas to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to attend the UN General Assembly in New York next week, despite the ongoing conflict between Washington and Tehran.
Back home, the Tata Sons governance standoff is moving markets, with several Tata group stocks under pressure and Afcons Infrastructure falling after Tata Trusts proposed buying back part of the SP Group’s stake in Tata Sons.
The rupee, meanwhile, has gained 22 paise against the dollar, helped by softer crude prices and expectations of foreign inflows linked to the NSE IPO. Gold and silver are also moving in different directions after the Fed’s latest rate decision.
In technology, Anthropic says Claude now leads 26% of the work involved in building its next AI models. Meanwhile, UPI is set to introduce a differentiated MDR framework for certain merchant transactions from October 15, Kotak has retained its “buy” call on Swiggy, and the iPhone 18 Pro series has drawn queues in major Indian cities.
