Software major Infosys is set to hire freshers with compensation packages starting from ₹7 lakh to ₹21 lakh per annum as it embraces an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-first approach across services.
The company is looking hire 2025 engineering and computer science graduates for specialised tech roles soon in an off-campus hiring drive for Specialist Programmer (L1 to L3) and Digital Specialist Engineer (trainee) roles, according to Moneycontrol.
Infosys will seek candidates who have BE, BTech, ME, MTech,
MCA and integrated MSc graduates from computer science, IT and select circuit branches such as ECE and EEE.
To ensure an AI-first approach, Infosys group CHRO Shaji Mathew told Moneycontrol that upskilling existing employees and bringing in digitally native talent with deep expertise was necessary.
"Our early‑career hiring combines campus and off‑campus drives, and we have expanded opportunities in the Specialist Programmer track, with packages up to ₹21 lakh per annum," he said in response to queries.
The role of Specialist Programmer L3 (Trainee) has the highest compensation of ₹21 LPA, followed by Specialist Programmer L2 (Trainee) with ₹16 LPA and Specialist Programmer L1 (Trainee) with ₹11 LPA. Digital Specialist Engineer (Trainee) roles will be offered ₹7 LPA.
This makes Infosys the highest entry-level payer among Indian IT firms, long known for offering low packages for entry-level roles. However that appears to be changing with major IT companies like TCS and HCLTech too increasing fresher package for specialised roles.
TCS has a Digital and Prime elite for non-standard hiring tracks for freshers, with compensation of ₹7 LPA and ₹11 LPA, respectively. Similarly, HCLTech too has begun offering pay packages that are four times higher for an "elite cadre" of freshers.
At the same time, shares of IT service companies have been sliding for the past few days after the Trump administration announced changes to the H-1B visa selection process.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Tuesday, modified the H-1B selection process, by replacing the random lottery method with a weighted selection process, giving greater importance to higher skilled and highly paid workers.
