Balu Forge Industries inducted into NATO supply chain for artillery parts

Balu Forge Industries Ltd has been inducted into the NATO supply chain for critical defence components. The company has received a mandate to manufacture and supply high-specification artillery shell bodies and complex forged components to NATO member states.

With this induction, the company becomes a certified supplier of mission-critical defence components for NATO countries. The development also marks Balu Forge’s entry into global artillery and advanced ammunition platforms and supports India’s role in the global defence manufacturing ecosystem.

Balu Forge Industries Ltd manufactures forged and machined components. The company claims that its selection was based on its closed-die forging processes, which enable the production of precision components for defence systems.

The company uses automated high-speed multi-axis CNC machines, including 7-axis and 11-axis systems, to manufacture complex geometries. It also operates specialised heat treatment and alloy optimisation programmes to improve resistance to thermal variation and high-impact stress in forged components.

Balu Forge said its operations are built on an integrated model that includes advanced forging, precision machining, heat treatment and metallurgical validation at a single location, allowing it to produce complex defence components at scale.

Balu Forge Industries Limited, founded by Prehlad Singh Chandock, produces forged and machined components ranging from 1 kg to 1,500 kg and up to 3 metres in length. It serves sectors including automotive, industrial vehicles, earthmoving equipment, wind energy, aerospace, defence, oil and gas, railways, marine and agriculture.

Shares of Balu Forge Industries on BSE rose 8.78% to ₹387.30 at 11:44 am, up ₹31.25 in Thursday's session.
