Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado said she had presented her Nobel Peace Prize to US President Donald Trump on Thursday, January 15, during a high-stakes encounter that could affect how Trump seeks to shape the South American country’s political future.

Following intense activity in mainland futures that fuelled global price rises, China tightened down on high-frequency trading,

Regulators have asked bourses, including the primary commodities platform, the Shanghai Futures Exchange, to remove servers run by high-frequency traders from their data centres. Aluminium, copper, and zinc all saw declines in Shanghai and on the London Metal Exchange, which determines the metals' benchmark pricing globally.

Shares of technology bellwether Infosys Ltd., India's second-largest IT services company, opened 4% higher on Friday, January 16, after the company announced its quarterly results post-market hours on Wednesday. Shares of L&T Technology Services (LTTS) opened lower on Friday, January 16, after it reported weaker-than-expected third quarter, impacted by an ongoing business recalibration that weighed on revenues. Shares of drugmaker Cipla Ltd. fell as much as 4% in early trading on Friday, January 16, after the company said in an exchange filing that it is temporarily pausing the manufacturing of a key drug. Cipla said that the manufacturing of the drug Lanreotide is being temporarily stopped to support the USFDA remediation at the facility which produces the said drug.
