ICICI Bank said on Wednesday that ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company Limited has received approvals from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to acquire an aggregate holding of up to 9.95% of the paid-up share capital or voting rights in four banks.
The approvals, issued through separate letters dated September 8, 2026, cover CSB Bank, DCB Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and AU Small Finance Bank, ICICI Bank said in a regulatory filing.
The RBI approvals require ICICI Prudential AMC to acquire the major shareholding within one year from the date of the RBI letters. If it fails to do so, the approvals will stand cancelled, the bank said.
The approvals were granted pursuant to applications made under the Reserve Bank of India (Commercial Banks - Acquisition and Holding of Shares or Voting Rights) Directions, 2025, dated November 28, 2025.
ICICI Bank said the term “aggregate holding” will be construed in accordance with the provisions of the said Master Direction.
Separately, AU Small Finance Bank (AU SFB) also informed exchange that it received approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company Limited (I-Pru AMC) and specified entities managed by it to acquire an aggregate holding of up to 9.95% of the bank’s paid-up share capital or voting rights.
Earlier on September 8, in a separate development, Thrissur-based CSB Bank Ltd had informed that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company Ltd to acquire an aggregate holding of up to 9.95% of the bank’s paid-up share capital or voting rights.
The approval was conveyed by the RBI through a letter dated September 8, 2026, CSB Bank said in a regulatory filing.
Shares of ICICI Bank Ltd closed 0.52% lower at ₹1,392.10 on September 9, 2026. The stock ended the session ₹7.30 lower.
