Trading resumes in full swing today onwards after last week's Diwali holidays. The index is already down over 300 points from last Thursday's high, led mainly by the banking index, which is down nearly 1,000 points from its own record high that it recently surged too.
The focus will be on global cues as well with US President Donald Trump announcing trade deals with multiple south-east Asian countries on his ASEAN tour, including Malaysia and Thailand, along with hopes of a deal between US and China, which has sent US futures surging. All eyes will also be on the US Fed meet and big tech results this week.
Our own earnings season is back after the Diwali lull with as many as 150-plus companies from the Nifty and the broader markets combined reporting results this week. We will see earnings reactions today from Kotak Mahindra Bank, Coforge, SBI Cards, and other stocks.
Today's session will see results from Adani Energy Solutions, Bata, Chennai Petro, the two recently listed Canara Bank subsidiaries, Indus Towers, Indian Oil, Kfin Tech, Mazagon Dock, among other names. Vodafone Idea's plea for AGR dues will also be heard in the Supreme Court today.
