What is the story about?
Good morning!
India’s growth outlook remains resilient. The IMF has raised its FY27 growth forecast to 7%, citing strong domestic demand and services activity, while warning that the conflict, higher oil prices and a broader global slowdown pose risks to the world economy.
The war remains a key driver for energy markets. US President Donald Trump says he does not believe China or Russia is helping Iran, arguing that both countries have too much to lose. Meanwhile, Matrix Global CEO Richard Radoglia expects crude prices to remain elevated as shipping costs, refinery disruptions and shortages of refined products, particularly diesel, keep pressure on the market.
Markets are seeing sharp moves. The rupee jumped 60 paise to open at ₹95.17 against the dollar after the RBI announced fresh measures to curb dollar demand.
HCLTech shares rallied after its Q2 results beat expectations on margins and the company raised the lower end of its FY27 revenue growth guidance. Gold and silver, however, slipped as a firm dollar and uncertainty over US interest rates weighed on bullion.
On the domestic political front, Rahul Gandhi is hosting INDIA bloc MPs, civil society members and student organisations for a high tea, with a joint press conference also planned. Meanwhile, CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were detained by Delhi Police after attempting to enter Jantar Mantar.
Trump does not believe China, Russia are helping Iran in war
US President Donald Trump said late on Monday (October 12) that he did not believe China and Russia were helping Iran “at all”, adding that Moscow and Beijing had “too much to lose” if they enabled Tehran.
“If they are, it’s at a very low level, but I don’t believe they are at all. They have too much to lose, and we would know about it, and know about it very fast,” Trump wrote.
