The equity benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty ended largely in the green after a volatile trading session, with the Nifty closing above the 25,650 mark even as broader markets underperformed on Friday (February 6)
The Sensex rose 266 points to close at 83,580, while the Nifty gained 51 points to end at 25,694. Nifty Bank added 57 points to settle at 60,120. In contrast, the Midcap index slipped 14 points to 59,503, underperforming the frontline indices. Market breadth remained in favour of declines, with the NSE advance-decline ratio at 2:3.
From the Sensex basket, ITC Ltd, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd, Hindustan Unilever Ltd, Bharti Airtel Ltd, Bajaj Finance Ltd and Shriram Finance Ltd were the major gainers. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd, Tech Mahindra Ltd, Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd, Asian Paints Ltd, Bajaj Auto Ltd and Grasim Industries Ltd were the biggest laggards.

Sectorally, FMCG stocks closed at the day’s high, with ITC, Hindustan Unilever and United Breweries emerging as the top gainers within the space. IT stocks continued to face pressure, ending lower for the third consecutive session.
Among individual stocks, Bharti Airtel rose 2% following its Q3 results. LIC and Nykaa emerged as the top midcap gainers, climbing over 7% each after their Q3 earnings.
On the downside, BEML fell over 7% after the company reported a net loss of ₹22.4 crore on a year-on-year basis. Tata Motors' passenger vehicle segment declined over 1% after its Q3 results missed estimates. Hitachi Energy gained 14% after its net profit rose 90.5% year-on-year.

Further, the benchmark indices ended higher for the second consecutive week, gaining 1.5% over the week. The midcap index outperformed the benchmarks, rising 2% during the week.
Balkrishna Industries, Nykaa and CG Power emerged as the top gainers in the midcap space.

Sectorally, consumer durables and realty stocks were the biggest outperformers, with their respective sectoral indices rising 6% each over the week. In contrast, IT and defence stocks were the weakest performers, declining over 5–7% during the period.
On the Nifty, Power Grid, Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, Max Healthcare and Trent featured among the top gainers for the week. Infosys, Tech Mahindra, HCLTech, TCS and BEL were among the top losers on the index.
