PhysicsWallah cuts Q1 loss as revenue crosses ₹1,000 crore despite NEET enrolment hit

Edtech firm PhysicsWallah narrowed its consolidated net loss in the June quarter as revenue grew 24%, even as a shift in the NEET examination cycle weighed on enrolments during the period.

The company reported a net loss of ₹77.6 crore for the first quarter of FY27, compared with a loss of ₹120.5 crore a year earlier.

Revenue rose to ₹1,054 crore from ₹847.1 crore in the year-ago quarter.

PhysicsWallah's EBITDA loss also narrowed to ₹56.9 crore from ₹76.3 crore, pointing to an improvement in operating performance.

NEET cycle weighs on enrolments

The company said its quarterly performance was affected by a change in the NEET examination cycle, which temporarily shifted the timing of enrolments and resulted in lower NEET enrolments during the quarter.

PhysicsWallah said momentum in its online NEET business picked up strongly from July, after the announcement of NEET results and the start of the new academic cycle. Enrolment and collection trends since then have reflected continued demand for its courses, the company said.

K-12 business grows rapidly

PhysicsWallah's online K-12 and early-learning business recorded stronger growth during the quarter.

Enrolments in the segment rose 41% year-on-year to 780,000 from 550,000, while revenue jumped 88% to ₹105 crore from ₹56 crore.

The segment includes programmes covering CBSE, ICSE and state boards, as well as Olympiad preparation, Pre-Foundation, Foundation, Curious Jr. and School-Integrated Programmes.

PhysicsWallah to take full control of BIGPL

Separately, PhysicsWallah's board approved definitive agreements with NSDC International to acquire 1,000 equity shares representing a 10% stake on a fully diluted basis in Bharat Innovations Global Private Limited, or BIGPL.

PhysicsWallah already owns 90% of BIGPL. Following the transaction, its stake will increase to 100%, making BIGPL a wholly owned subsidiary.

Founder and Chief Executive Alakh Pandey said the quarter marked an important step in PhysicsWallah's push towards sustainable profitability as the company continued to expand its learner base across online, offline, K-12 and newer categories.

PhysicsWallah shares ended Friday's session at ₹117.60 on the NSE, down 0.62%.
