The Central Government has appointed Sandip Pradhan, a 1990-batch Indian Revenue Service officer, as a Whole-Time Member (WTM) of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).
His tenure will be for three years from the date he assumes charge, or until further orders, according to an official notification.
Pradhan currently serves as Director General of Income Tax (Investigation), Pune. The appointment is made under the powers granted to the Centre through the SEBI Act, 1992, and the associated service rules
governing the terms and conditions of SEBI’s Chairman and Members, it added.

The move confirms a CNBC-TV18 newsbreak from November 11, which had reported—based on sources—that Pradhan was among the shortlisted names and was likely to be appointed as a WTM.
Pradhan will now join the market regulator’s top leadership team at a time when SEBI is handling a growing pipeline of regulatory, supervisory and enforcement responsibilities across India’s expanding capital markets.
