What is the story about?
Strong revenue growth drove Hawkins Cookers Limited'
s net profit up by 17.1% in the June quarter, even as operating margin narrowed on the back of higher costs, according to the company's filing.
The kitchenware maker's revenue from operations climbed 33.1% to ₹318.13 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, compared with ₹239.08 crore in the same period last year. Net profit after tax stood at ₹30.38 crore, up from ₹25.94 crore a year earlier.
EBITDA rose 22.1% to ₹42.7 crore from ₹35.0 crore in the year-ago quarter. However, EBITDA margin slipped to 13.4% from 14.6% in the corresponding quarter last year, as expenses grew faster than the bottom line.
Profit before tax came in at ₹40.87 crore, against ₹34.88 crore in Q1 FY26. Total expenses for the quarter rose to ₹280.10 crore from ₹207.77 crore a year earlier, led by a jump in cost of materials consumed to ₹153.15 crore from ₹107.38 crore. Other expenses also rose, to ₹89.64 crore from ₹59.87 crore.
The numbers point to a classic volume-versus-margin trade-off: while the 33.1% revenue jump comfortably outpaced the 22.1% rise in EBITDA, it shows profitability growth lagging the top line. Cost of materials consumed rose faster in proportion to revenue than in the year-ago quarter, which appears to be the key driver behind the 120-basis-point margin contraction, even as the company posted double-digit growth across most other metrics.
Tax expense for the quarter totalled ₹10.49 crore, compared with ₹8.94 crore in the year-ago period. Earnings per share stood at ₹57.45, against ₹49.05 in the same quarter last year, marking a rise even though margins were under pressure.
Total comprehensive income for the quarter was ₹30.21 crore, up from ₹25.84 crore in Q1 FY26. Paid-up equity share capital remained unchanged at ₹5.29 crore, while reserves, excluding revaluation reserves, rose to ₹439.96 crore from ₹377.96 crore, reflecting steady accretion to the company's net worth despite the margin pressure.
Shares of Hawkins Cookers were trading down 1.45%, at ₹8,638.50 on the NSE as on 29 July 2026, 1:48pm IST.
