Uber India's outgoing President, Prabhjeet Singh, is set to join OpenAI as its India Managing Director, according to sources. He is expected to report to Kiran Mani, OpenAI's Managing Director for the Asia-Pacific region, sources added.
Responding to a CNBC-TV18 query, OpenAI declined to comment, saying it had "no comment for now."
Earlier on Friday, Uber India and South Asia President Prabhjeet Singh stepped down after almost 11 years with the ride-hailing company, marking the end of a long leadership stint in one of Uber’s key global regions.
Singh led Uber’s India and South Asia operations through a period of rapid expansion and structural change, including the company’s deeper push into multiple mobility segments and strengthening its presence across competitive urban markets.
He was appointed President of the region in 2020 and oversaw strategy across India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.
