Agrawal, who joined Wipro as a management trainee, went on to lead WCCL through a long phase of expansion marked by steady brand-building and international acquisitions. During his tenure, the business expanded its global footprint through 15 acquisitions and emerged as a multinational consumer products company. One of the most notable outcomes of this strategy was the scaling up of Santoor, which grew into India’s largest soap brand over the years.
In a LinkedIn post marking his retirement, the company said Agrawal’s leadership was defined by clarity, long-term thinking and a strong emphasis on values. It credited him with building a culture rooted in fairness, trust and diverse perspectives, while remaining deeply involved in day-to-day business decisions.
The company recently held an internal event to commemorate Agrawal’s journey, with employees and leaders coming together to reflect on his contribution to the organisation and its culture.
Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting has announced Kumar Chander as the new CEO, with Chander also taking over as Managing Director of Wipro Enterprises. The company said the leadership transition was planned with continuity in mind, allowing the next phase of growth to build on the foundation laid over the past four decades.
In a follow-up post, WCCL reflected on Agrawal’s journey from management trainee to chief executive, describing it as closely intertwined with the evolution of the business itself. The company also acknowledged the role of his wife, Sangeeta, noting her support over the years.
Agrawal’s retirement marks the end of one of the longest leadership tenures within the Wipro group, closing a chapter that helped shape Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting into a significant global player in the fast-moving consumer goods space.
