The Great Eastern Shipping Company Ltd. has contracted to buy a secondhand Kamsarmax dry bulk carrier of about 81,609 deadweight tonnes, the company said Tuesday.
The 2019-built vessel is expected to join the company’s fleet in the third quarter of fiscal 2027. GE Shipping said the acquisition is aimed at expanding its fleet and will be financed entirely through internal accruals.
The company currently owns 40 vessels with an aggregate capacity of 3.24 million deadweight tonnes. Its fleet comprises 25 tankers, including five crude tankers, 16 product tankers and four LPG carriers, as well as 15 dry bulk carriers.
The dry bulk fleet includes two Capesize vessels, 10 Kamsarmax vessels, one Ultramax and two Supramax vessels.
GE Shipping said its current fleet capacity utilisation is close to 100%.
The company has also contracted to acquire another secondhand Kamsarmax dry bulk carrier, with that transaction also expected to be completed in the third quarter of fiscal 2027.
