IndiGo has now formally updated details of its special passenger relief package on its website, branding the previously announced compensation as ‘Gesture of Care’ (GoC). The move comes after days of large-scale flight cancellations and prolonged delays that left thousands of passengers stranded across airports in the first week of December.
The airline had earlier indicated that it would offer additional compensation to severely impacted passengers. The updated GoC framework now lays out who is eligible,
what they will receive, and how the benefit can be claimed.

According to IndiGo, the Gesture of Care — compensation via voucher/bank transfer — is meant for customers who were severely impacted and stranded due to prolonged delays and cancellations between December 3-5.
Under the scheme:
- Each eligible passenger will receive a ₹10,000 travel voucher.
- The amount will be issued as two vouchers of ₹5,000 each.
- The voucher is issued per passenger, not per booking or PNR.
- For instance, if three passengers were travelling on the same PNR, each passenger will receive ₹10,000 worth of vouchers, taking the total benefit to ₹30,000 for that booking.
Eligibility criteria
The ₹10,000 Gesture of Care voucher applies only to:
- Passengers scheduled to travel from noon of December 3 to end of day December 5, 2025.
- Those who were severely impacted and stranded at airports due to prolonged delays and/or cancellations.
IndiGo says only flights meeting these criteria are covered under the scheme.
Voucher validity and usage
The travel voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of issuance. Passengers can book their next journey anytime within the validity period, even if the travel date is after the voucher expiry. Each passenger must use their own individual vouchers. The airline says the structure is designed to provide flexibility and ease of use.

How passengers will receive the voucher
Eligible passengers will receive an email on their registered email ID containing a secure link to the travel vouchers.
If an email address is not registered, the voucher will be sent within 24 hours of the passenger registering an email ID. Passengers are advised to check spam or other folders

IndiGo vouchers are over and above DGCA-mandated compensation
IndiGo has clarified that the Gesture of Care voucher is separate from compensation mandated under DGCA’s Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR). Passengers whose flights were cancelled within 24 hours of departure remain eligible for statutory compensation, depending on the block time of the flight for ₹5,000, ₹7,500 or ₹10,000.
This compensation is in addition to refunds and independent of the GoC voucher.
