Shares of PTC Industries rose more than 4% on Thursday, July 23, after the company secured a design and development order from the Armament Research & Development Establishment (ARDE) for a Titanium Cradle for the 105mm Indian Light Weight Tank.

The order marks PTC Industries' first project in which it will be responsible not only for manufacturing but also for the engineering design, development, validation and supply of a mission-critical defence component, moving beyond its traditional build-to-print manufacturing model.
According to the company's exchange filing, the Titanium Cradle is a critical structural component that supports the main gun barrel and breech, provides attachment points for the recoil mechanism and recuperator, and transfers firing and recoil forces safely to the turret structure.
The component is intended for the Indian Light Weight Tank programme being developed by ARDE.

Chairman and Managing Director Sachin Agarwal said the order represents "an important milestone" for PTC Industries as it expands into the design and development of mission-critical titanium defence components.
He added that the company believes lightweighting will become increasingly important across tanks, artillery systems and other land defence platforms and that titanium alloys can play a significant role in this transition.
PTC said the order strengthens its integrated manufacturing platform, PTC ONE – From Melt to Mission, by adding design-led development capabilities to its existing expertise in titanium materials, precision manufacturing and mission-critical component production.
The company believes the project could open opportunities in the design and manufacture of lightweight titanium components for tanks, artillery systems and other land defence platforms.
The company said lightweight titanium components are becoming increasingly important for defence platforms as they improve mobility, deployability and performance, particularly in demanding terrains such as high-altitude regions.
Titanium alloys offer a high strength-to-weight ratio, along with fatigue and corrosion resistance, making them suitable for mission-critical defence applications.
As per the exchange filing, the contract is to be executed over a period of two-and-a-half years. The financial value of the order has not been disclosed due to strategic and confidentiality considerations. The order has been awarded by a domestic entity and is not a related-party transaction.
