BSE shares near record high levels; stock on course for second-best month of 2025

Shares of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Ltd. are trading with gains of close to 2% on Thursday, November 20, extending their gains for the third straight month.

The stock has risen 5% during this three-day gaining streak and has gained in six out of the last nine trading sessions.

With this move, the stock is now close to its all-time high level of ₹3,030, which the stock had surged to on June 10 this year. Within the next three months, the stock had declined to levels of ₹2,000, amidst concerns of tinkering being done to the weekly options expiry cycle by market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

However, recent remarks made by the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and the SEBI Chairperson Tuhin Kanta Pandey, have assuaged concerns with regards to this subject.

FM Sitharaman, on November 6, speaking at the 12th SBI Banking and Economics Conclave, 2025, said that the government is not here to shut the door on the Futures & Options (F&O) segment.

"The certainty currently is that it's on and it is working. And next time, if we have to take any further steps, we will come out with a consultation paper, which you will get to see," SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey said at the CNBC-TV18 Global Leadership Summit, when asked whether the proposal to curb weekly expiries is off the table for now.

As concerns over F&O space begin to ease, shares of BSE have risen nearly 50% from the September 26 low of ₹2,021. The stock gained 21.5% in October and is already up 19.5% so far this month. This has put the stock on course for its second-best month of the years. BSE's best month of 2025 was April, when the stock had surged 26%.

16 analysts have coverage on BSE, of which, 10 of them have a "buy" rating, five say "hold", while one has a "sell" rating on the stock.

Shares of BSE are trading 2% higher on Thursday at ₹2,956. The stock is up 66% so far in 2025, after having gained 139% in 2024 and more than quadrupling in value in 2023.
