WPIL's South Africa arm wins ₹426-crore water works contract

Indian company WPIL's South African arm has received a ₹426-crore contract from Matla a Metsi Joint Venture, to be commissioned in four years, the company said on Monday, November 17.

The industrial products firm received the contract for the complete electro mechanical and instrumentation works for the Mokolo Crocodile Water Augmentation Project phase 2.

The project aims to meet the demands of water stations and the municipality of Lephalale by diverting water from the Mokolo dam to the Waterberg

area.

WPIL is an Indian company engaged in the fluid handling business, catering to domestic as well as international markets. It is primarily involved in designing, developing, manufacturing, erecting, commissioning and servicing of pumps and pumping systems.

WPIL 's stock ended 0.58% higher at ₹387.3 on November 17, ahead of the contract announcement.

Earlier this year, the company's European subsidiary, Gruppo Aturia, acquired 100% shareholding of MISA SRL, a leading Italian company engaged in the business of large pumping station projects and supply of pumps and hydro turbines.

The acquisition strengthened Gruppo Aturia as a leading European supplier of large pumps and added pumping station project, capability enabling it to provide turnkey solutions.
