Kaynes Tech shares in focus after partnership with two global tech firms for semiconductor unit

Shares of Kaynes Technology India Ltd. are in focus on Wednesday, December 17, after the company said its wholly-owned subsidiary Kaynes Semicon Pvt Ltd. has partnered with two Japan-based global tech firms — Mitsui & Co and AOI Electronics.

The alliances are expected to play a crucial role in advancing India's ambitions to become a global semiconductor hub, the company said in an exchange filing on Tuesday, December 16.

Kaynes Tech has entered a technology collaboration with AOI Electronics Co. Ltd., which brings expertise in advanced packaging, panel-level packaging and wafer-lever redistribution layer (RDL) technologies.

"AOI's proven excellence in backend technology strengthens our offering and significantly enhances our ability to serve the global semiconductor value chain from India," Kaynes Semicon CEO Raghu Panicker said.

On the other hand, the company said its partnership with Mitsui & Co — a trading and investment firm operating across more than 60 countries — will give it assured access to critical raw materials, including lead frames, molding compounds, die attach materials, specialty gases and semiconductor-grade chemicals, which are essential for wafer fabrication and packaging.

The supply chain collaboration is aimed to mitigate global disruptions and supporting the creation of a self-reliant semiconductor ecosystem in India, the company added.

On another note, Smallcap World Fund Inc. (Capital International) bought 4.46 lakh shares of Kaynes Tech worth 189 crore at an average price of 4,206 apiece during the trading session on Friday, December 12, as per official data.

At the end of the September quarter, Smallcap World Fund Inc did not hold any stake in Kaynes Tech.

The company's management has also addressed concerns regarding accounting and collections in the smart meter segment, stating that it is exiting the service model and supply only smart meters, going forward.

Shares of Kaynes Tech ended the previous session 0.3% lower at 4,185 apiece. The stock has declined 32.9% in the past month.
