Nvidia Q3 Results: Stock jumps in extended trade after earnings, guidance beat expectations

Shares of Nvidia Corp. the most valuable company in the world and the biggest supplier of chips to AI Hyperscalers, surged as much as 4% in extended trading on Wednesday, November 19, after reporting results for the third quarter that were better than what analysts had envisaged.

Nvidia reported revenue of $57.01 billion in the third quarter of 2026, higher than Wall Street expectations of $54.92 billion. Its Earnings Per Share of $1.3 also beat estimates of $1.25.

For the fourth quarter, Nvidia expects $65 billion in sales, which is also higher than the $61.66 billion that analysts had projected. Some of the estimates though, had gone up to as high as $75 billion. On a year-on-year basis, Nvidia's topline grew by 62%.

Nvidia's founder and CEO Jensen Huang said that sales for the company's current generation Graphic Processing Unit (GPU) called Blackwell was "off the charts," meaning they have reached extreme or unexpected levels.

Huang mentioned that the "cloud GPUs are sold out", amidst concerns that Nvidia's chips are only going to a handful of hyperscalers and any slowdown in demand from their end could severely impact the business.

Out of the $57 billion topline, Nvidia's data center sales stood at $51.2 billion, beating analyst expectations of $49.09 billion, and gaining 66% on a year-on-year basis.

Before the AI boom that took the company to stratosphere, Nvidia was known for making chips that enabled the functioning of 3D video games. That gaming business, which was once the biggest topline contributor, now generated $4.3 billion in revenue, a growth of 30% from last year. Its professional visualization business, another legacy item, reported sales worth $760 million, showing growth of 56% from the year-ago period.

Nvidia recently hit $5 trillion in market capitalization, becoming the most valuable public company. It counts Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Oracle and Meta as its key customers, who use the company's chips to develop new AI models.

Shares of Nvidia are trading 4.1% higher in extended trade at $194.12. The stock had declined 15% from its record high levels ahead of the results and had gained 2.8% in regular trade on Wednesday, contributing to the rebound on the Nasdaq.
