The index now looks at its new record high of 26,310. The Nifty needs a close above 26,068 to post a weekly gain.
The Sensex index is also trading in a similar condition; with a rise of around 50 points, the index remains below the recent record mark of 86,000.
GAIL shares are in focus after getting lower than the lower-than-expected increase in tariff, falling over 7% in the intraday trade today.
The Nifty Bank index is under a little pressure, as the marquee index is down close to 100 points, as it looks to chase down the 60,000 mark.
Some of the biggest gainers among the Nifty 500 stocks include KSB Ltd, Five Star Bus, Welspun Living, Varun Beverages, SRF, BLS International, IGL and Lemon Tree Hotels among others.
