What is the story about?
The Great Eastern Shipping Company Ltdhas signed an agreement to sell its very large gas carrier Jag Vishnu as part of its ongoing fleet management strategy, the company said in a regulatory filing. The vessel, built in 2002, has a cargo capacity of about 77,922 cubic metres and has been contracted for sale to an unaffiliated third party.
According to the disclosure, the agreement to sell Jag Vishnu was executed on December 26, 2025. The vessel is scheduled to be delivered to the buyer in the fourth quarter of FY26.
Following the transaction, GE Shipping’s owned fleet will stand at 39 vessels. This includes 25 tankers, comprising crude tankers, product tankers and LPG carriers, and 14 dry bulk carriers across Capesize, Kamsarmax and Supramax segments. The total fleet capacity aggregates about 3.17 million deadweight tonnes.

The company also said it has lined up additional fleet transactions during the same period. It has contracted to purchase one second-hand very large gas carrier and one second-hand Ultramax dry bulk carrier, while also agreeing to sell a Kamsarmax dry bulk carrier, Jag Aarati. These transactions are expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of FY26.
GE Shipping said the sale of Jag Vishnu aligns with its efforts to optimise fleet composition and capital deployment across vessel segments.
