Good morning!
The Trump administration’s $100,000 fee for new H-1B visas has hit another legal roadblock. A second US federal judge has blocked the fee, ruling that immigration authorities and the State Department failed to follow the required rule-making process before implementing it.
The Pentagon, meanwhile, is putting AI and autonomous systems at the centre of its future warfare plans. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has announced Autonomous Warfare Command, or AutoWarCom, a new unit focused on expanding
the use of drones, robotics and artificial intelligence.
Markets are also in focus. Auto stocks including Bajaj Auto, Mahindra & Mahindra and Escorts Kubota are falling after September sales numbers, while Kotak Mahindra Bank has gained after the RBI approved Anup Saha as its next MD & CEO. The rupee has slipped to ₹95.95 against the dollar, while gold remains steady and silver gains as investors track US rates and yields.
There is more on the India-US front: Piyush Goyal has met US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer as both countries push for an interim trade deal.
