Intellect Design Q1 Results: AI, cloud banking push revenue up 20%; margins ease

Intellect Design Arena began FY27 on a strong note, reporting double-digit growth in both revenue and profit as financial institutions accelerated investments in AI-led digital transformation and cloud-native banking platforms.

For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, the software company reported a consolidated net profit of ₹102 crore, up 9% from ₹94 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

Revenue rose 20% year on year to ₹845 crore from ₹702 crore, while EBITDA increased 16% to ₹166 crore. EBITDA margin, however, moderated to 19.6% from 20.4% a year earlier, reflecting continued investments in growth initiatives.

Including other income, total income for the quarter stood at ₹872 crore, compared with ₹734 crore in the year-ago period.

Growth was broad-based across the company’s recurring and high-value revenue streams. Platform revenue increased to ₹141 crore from ₹126 crore, licence revenue rose to ₹166 crore from ₹129 crore, while annual maintenance contract (AMC) revenue climbed to ₹150 crore from ₹134 crore.

Combined licence-linked revenue, comprising licence, platform and AMC income, grew to ₹457 crore from ₹389 crore, highlighting healthy demand for Intellect’s software offerings among banks and financial institutions.

The company also reported stronger cash generation during the quarter. Collections rose to ₹763 crore from ₹586 crore a year earlier, while cash and cash equivalents increased to ₹1,269 crore from ₹976 crore, strengthening its balance sheet.

Operationally, Intellect continued to expand its global footprint. During the quarter, 19 new customers selected the company’s eMACH.ai platform for their AI-first transformation initiatives, while 16 financial institutions successfully went live on Intellect’s digital banking platforms.

Chairman and Managing Director Arun Jain said the banking technology industry was moving beyond experimental generative AI towards explainable and deterministic AI systems capable of delivering measurable business outcomes.

Reflecting that shift, Intellect has carved out Purple Fabric as an independent business line focused on enterprise AI. At the same time, the company continues to expand its eMACH.ai platform globally across digital banking, Islamic banking and credit union solutions, betting that demand for AI-powered financial technology will continue to accelerate.

Management said the company’s performance reflected the structural shift underway in global banking, as financial institutions increasingly replace legacy systems with composable, cloud-native architectures. The quarter’s strong deal wins, growing licence-linked revenue and improving cash position suggest Intellect is well placed to capitalise on that transition.

Following the earnings announcement, shares of Intellect Design Arena were trading largely unchanged at ₹705.70 on the NSE on Friday afternoon, indicating investors had largely priced in the company’s steady operational performance.
