NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) announced that the commercial operation of 69.04 MW capacity of its 1,255 MW Khavda-I solar PV project in Gujarat begins from December 25. The project falls under the CPSU Scheme Phase-II Tranche-III and is executed by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NGEL.
With this addition, the commercial capacity of the NTPC Green Energy Group now stands at 7,996.30 MW, up from 7,927.26 MW.

Earlier, on December 17, NGEL had reported the commercial operation of 37.925 MW from the Khavda solar project. At that time, the company had noted that the fifth-part capacity of the 300 MW Khavda solar project, which is part of the 450 MW Hybrid Tranche V being executed by NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd, would become commercially operational on December 18, 2025.
The Khavda project is located in Gujarat’s Kutch district, which has emerged as a key hub for large-scale renewable energy installations, supported by high solar irradiance and strong evacuation infrastructure.

The company posted a 131.6% year-on-year jump in net profit, reporting ₹88 crore for the September quarter, up from ₹38 crore in the same period last year. Revenue rose 21.5% to ₹612.3 crore, compared with ₹503.8 crore in Q2FY25. EBITDA grew 26% to ₹529.6 crore from ₹420.2 crore a year ago, while the EBITDA margin improved to 86.5% from 83.4% in Q2FY25.
Shares of NTPC Green Energy ended at ₹93.25, up ₹2.75 (3.04%) on the BSE today, December 24.
