What is the story about?
Zerodha has introduced a new “Terminal Mode” on Kite in beta, allowing users to customise their trading screen layout and access multiple tools within a single interface. Founder Nithin Kamath announced the rollout on X, saying the company is seeking user feedback during the testing phase.
The new Terminal Mode lets traders drag and rearrange panels such as marketwatch, charts, order book, and positions across the screen. Users can open multiple pages simultaneously, place them side by side or stacked, and resize widgets based on screen size and preference.
Zerodha said this aims to reduce wasted screen space, especially for users with larger monitors.
With the update, several tools that were earlier available only on the Zerodha website — such as the margin calculator, brokerage calculator, and economic calendar — are now integrated directly inside Kite.
Users can choose which widgets to display to avoid clutter.
Zerodha has redesigned key sections, including order book, positions, holdings, and option chain, so they function as adjustable widgets within Terminal Mode.
Among the new widgets available are:
The platform also allows users to save up to 10 customised workspaces, switch between them instantly, and share layouts with others. Zerodha has included preset templates to help users get started quickly.
However, the company noted some limitations. Currently, only TradingView charts are supported in Terminal Mode, while ChartIQ charts are not available. Zerodha said chart preference handling across workspaces remains under development, along with a few minor fixes.
The feature is currently live on Kite Beta 777, and Zerodha has invited users to test it and share feedback, including screenshots of their preferred workspace setups.
