Reliance invests ₹2 crore to set up AI joint venture with Meta’s Facebook unit

Reliance Industries has moved a step closer to launching its enterprise artificial intelligence (AI) venture with Meta.

The company's wholly owned subsidiary Reliance Intelligence on Saturday, October 25,

announced an investment of ₹2 crore to incorporate Reliance Enterprise Intelligence Limited (REIL).

REIL will serve as the joint venture entity between Reliance Intelligence and Facebook Overseas, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Meta. The new company will focus on developing, marketing, and distributing enterprise AI services, marking a concrete step toward implementing the collaboration announced earlier this year.

The company has informed the exchanges that Reliance Intelligence has subscribed to 20 lakh equity shares of ₹10 each, amounting to ₹2 crore, as part of REIL’s incorporation.

Both companies had jointly committed an initial investment of about ₹855 crore ($100 million) with Reliance Intelligence holding a 70% stake and Facebook Overseas owning the remaining 30% in REIL.

Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani had first announced the joint venture to build sovereign AI-ready solutions for enterprises during the company's Annual General Meeting on August 29, 2025.

He hailed the Meta partnership as a “game changer” for accelerating digital adoption across industries. 

The joint venture will leverage Meta’s open-source Llama models to build an enterprise AI Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), enabling organisations to customise, deploy, and manage generative AI applications securely and at scale.

Ambani said at the time that the partnership would serve every Indian organisation, ranging from Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) to blue-chip corporates at affordable rates.

The company said it would also provide pre-configured AI solutions tailored to both cross-functional and sector-specific use cases spanning sales, IT, customer service, finance, and more. 

This would also help Meta expand the reach of its AI initiatives in India.
