What is the story about?
Vinay Singh, co-founder and partner at the consumer-oriented venture capital firm Fireside Ventures, is departing from the firm after nearly ten years, representing yet another senior-level exit from India's venture capital landscape.
Having been with Fireside since its inception, Singh is leaving as the VC investment sector experiences an increasing turnover among senior partners, with numerous investors opting to establish their own funds or seek opportunities beyond their current platforms.
Fireside noted that Singh played a crucial role in the firm's development from the beginning and has invested in various sectors, including beauty and personal care, food and beverages, wellness, and lifestyle.
As per a Moneycontrol report, Singh is known for his involvement in investments such as Fixxly, Ninety One, Solethreads, Samosa Singh, and 10Club, among others.
He stated that he is resigning now to dedicate more time to exploring "agentic commerce" and the potential impact of artificial intelligence on consumer behaviour.
This departure occurs at a pivotal moment for Fireside. Established in 2017, the firm has developed a portfolio centred around India's consumer and D2C surge, supporting companies across diverse categories from beauty and personal care to food and lifestyle.
Fireside mentioned that it currently has four senior partners: Kanwaljit Singh, Kannan Sitaram, Dipanjan Basu, and Adarsh Menon, along with a team of 12 principals and vice presidents specialising in investing, brand development, channels, finance, HR, fundraising, and ESG.
In a statement, Vinay Singh said: "Co-building Fireside allowed me to shape the firm from its early days and work alongside exceptional founders and teams. As AI reshapes commerce faster than most of us expected, I want to spend more time exploring the frontiers of agentic commerce and its implications for the future of consumption. I am excited for this next chapter, and deeply grateful to the Fireside family, and to every founder and LP who trusted us on this journey."
