What is the story about?
Deepinder Goyal, Founder and Vice Chairman of the Board at Eternal Limited, on Wednesday said he has received more than 8,000 emails over the past week after inviting former Zomato employees to reconnect and work with him again.
Earlier, Goyal put out a public message encouraging ex-Zomato team members to reach out if they were interested in collaborating again. Sharing the update on social media platform X, he said the response had been overwhelming, with thousands of former employees writing to him.
"Over the last week, we received over 8,000 emails. About 4,000 people who have been part of the Eternal journey at some point. Rest from people who haven't worked here but want to. Thank you so much for this. I didn't expect this at all," he wrote.
Goyal revealed that most of the emails he received are from former employees who shared their stories, their journey with the company, and their personal connection to it.
"Most of these emails are stories, and are full of emotions and honesty. There's a lot of context and history in them," he wrote.
He stated that since the company is now almost two decades old, many of the current team members don't know these old employees who left five, ten or 15 years ago. Goyal feels he is the only person who has been around long enough to understand who these people are.
"And a lot of our current team has no context on people who left five, ten, or 15 years ago. Eternal is in its late teens right now. The only person who can truly read these emails and know who to respond to is me," Goyal added.
He said that going through 8,000 emails and selecting the right candidates is not humanly possible in a short time. "We are still going through every single one. It will take time," he wrote, urging people to reach out to him directly via WhatsApp for a quicker response.
"But if you worked with me directly, and you wrote in, and you are waiting for a reply, here is what will work quickly: find my number and WhatsApp me. Looking forward to reconnect," Goyal concluded the post.
Zomato, which rebranded its parent entity as Eternal Limited last year, has seen multiple phases of hiring and restructuring. Eternal comprises various businesses, including Zomato, Blinkit Quick-Commerce, Blinkit Ambulances, District, Hyperpure, Nugget, and Feeding India.
