Danube Group opens innings in digital sports media with Mr. Cricket UAE

The Danube Group on Thursday, December 18, entered a new business segment with the launch of Mr. Cricket UAE Media Group, the UAE’s first dedicated digital media platform focused exclusively on cricket,

according to a company statement.

The new venture is being led by Danube Group Vice Chairman Anis Sajan, popularly known in the region as 'Mr. Cricket UAE.'

With this move, the group is expanding beyond its core businesses of real estate, retail, building materials and hospitality into the rapidly-growing digital sports media sector, the company said.

“Today, Danube Group takes a major leap into a brand-new segment. Mr. Cricket UAE Media Group is not just a business expansion; it is the culmination of my lifelong passion for cricket,” Sajan said, adding that the platform aims to deliver world-class cricket content and exclusive access to fans globally.

The official launch event in Dubai was attended by several international cricket stars, including Dinesh Karthik, Eoin Morgan, JP Duminy, Fakhar Zaman, Angelo Mathews, Moeen Ali, Adil Rashid and Khurram Khan, the statement said.

Headquartered in Dubai, Mr. Cricket UAE Media Group is the country’s first cricket-focused digital media house and reflects UAE’s growing role in the global sports economy, according to the company.

The platform will initially focus on cricket and will later expand into coverage of other major sports as part of a phased growth plan.

According to the statement, the platform will provide live and real-time cricket coverage, exclusive player interviews, premium digital video content, studio shows, social-first short-form content, documentary-style storytelling and behind-the-scenes access across global cricket leagues.

Sajan said cricket would always remain a personal passion rather than a commercial pursuit, adding, “Cricket mera pyaar hai, koi karobar nahi. (Cricket is my love, not a business).”
