Nvidia's net profit in the first nine months of FY26 is higher than sales of Intel, AMD combined

Nvidia Corp., the world's most valuable company and the supplier of AI chips to big tech firms on Wall Street, has reported a greater net profit in the first nine months of the current financial year, compared to the combined net sales of two of its closest rivals, Intel Corp. and Advanced Micro Devices Inc.

For the first nine months of fiscal 2026, Nvidia has reported a net income of $77.1 billion. The figure is nearly double of Intel's sales for the first nine months of the fiscal year, which stood at $39.3 billion, and more than quadruple of AMD's $18.1 billion. The two combined, have reported net sales of close to $60 billion, still below Nvidia's profits for the first nine months of the year.

At the end of the current quarter, Nvidia's net income stood at $31.9 billion. Three years ago, during the fourth quarter of fiscal 2023, Nvidia had reported net sales of $6 billion. If the fourth quarter projections of $65 billion in sales hold, that will be a 11-fold jump in the company's net sales in the last 13 quarters.

Nvidia has made its fortunes due to the insatiable demand for its AI Graphic Processing Units, which, according to founder and CEO Jensen Huang, have gone "off the charts" when describing the sales for its current generation Blackwell chips. The company recently crossed $5 trillion in market capitalisation.

Nvidia's rivals though, are getting optimistic that they can now challenge the David-like status that the company has when it comes to the AI chip supply. AMD recently projected strong growth for its AI chip business, while Broadcom, Qualcomm and others have also announced large tie-ups with users of Nvidia's chips.

Shares of Nvidia have jumped 5% in extended trading on Wall Street, after its quarterly sales, Earnings Per Share (EPS) and guidance for the fourth quarter, comfortably surpassed estimates of Wall Street analysts. This is the 12th quarter in a row that Nvidia has surpassed sales and EPS expectations.
