Samvardhana Motherson International Limited (SAMIL) on Monday, January 5, said its subsidiary has secured government incentives under the Centre’s Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), strengthening the group’s push into domestic manufacturing for the consumer electronics segment.
In a regulatory filing, the company said Motherson Electronic Components Private Limited (MECPL) has been approved as a beneficiary under the scheme notified by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
The incentives are aimed at supporting the manufacture of enclosures for the consumer electronics industry and will be available for six years, from FY26 to FY31.
Under the ECMS approval, MECPL is expected to make a cumulative investment of around ₹1,900 crore over the incentive period. The company also plans to generate over 5,000 jobs at its manufacturing facility in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, during the course of the scheme.
The company said the approval reinforces its commitment to strengthening India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem and aligns with the government’s “Make in India” initiative. The group added that its inclusion in the ECMS reflects its readiness to scale operations in high-value segments such as consumer electronics.
The ECMS incentives are part of the government’s broader push to build a resilient domestic electronics supply chain and reduce import dependence in critical components.
Shares of SAMIL were trading 0.24% up at ₹122.33 as of 12:53 pm, up from intraday lows of ₹120.33. The stock has gained 4.50% in the last one month.
