Astral Q3 Results: Net profit dips 5.5% to ₹108 crore despite 10% revenue growth

Astral Ltd reported a year-on-year decline of 5.5% in consolidated net profit at ₹107.7 crore for the third quarter, compared with ₹114 crore in the corresponding period last year. Revenue from operations rose 10.3% year-on-year to ₹1,541.5 crore in Q3, up from ₹1,397 crore a year earlier.

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) for the quarter increased 8.2% year-on-year to ₹237.5 crore from ₹219.5 crore in the previous-year quarter. The EBITDA margin, however, moderated

to 15.4% in Q3 compared with 15.7% in the year-ago period.

The performance reflected steady topline growth, while profitability was impacted by margin pressure on a year-on-year basis. Despite the softer net profit, operating metrics remained stable with EBITDA growth broadly tracking revenue expansion during the quarter under review.

Astral Q2 performance

In the second quarter, Astral Ltd reported strong sequential and annual showings, posting a 15.9% quarter-on-quarter increase in consolidated revenues for the quarter ended September. On a year-on-year basis, revenue grew 15.2%.

Expenses during Q2 rose 11.8% quarter-on-quarter and 14.5% year-on-year. Net profit surged 70.2% on a sequential basis and increased 24% year-on-year in the second quarter. Earnings per share (EPS) stood at ₹5.02 for Q2.

The robust Q2 performance highlighted a sharp improvement in profitability compared with the preceding quarter, supported by controlled expense growth relative to revenue. The sequential jump in net profit underscored improved operating leverage during the period.

Astral’s Q2 results had set a strong base ahead of Q3, even as margins in the third quarter saw a marginal contraction on a year-on-year basis.
