Restaurant Faces Dual Challenges
Saba Ibrahim, well-known as actress Dipika Kakar's sister-in-law, and her husband Khalid Niyaz have made the difficult decision to temporarily halt operations
at their Mumbai-based restaurant. The primary drivers behind this abrupt closure are a widespread shortage of LPG cylinders, a critical resource for many eateries, and unforeseen structural defects within the establishment itself. This situation has led to a pause in their culinary ventures, with an anticipated closure period of approximately 15 to 20 days, though this timeline is subject to change based on the resolution of these pressing issues.
LPG Cylinder Scarcity
According to Saba's husband, Khalid Niyaz, obtaining LPG cylinders has become a significant hurdle, with availability being extremely limited. This scarcity is not an isolated incident affecting only their restaurant; Saba mentioned in a vlog that neighboring establishments are also experiencing similar disruptions, with several having been closed for two to three days due to the lack of gas supply. This widespread issue highlights a broader supply chain problem impacting the food service industry in the area, forcing many businesses to cease operations temporarily.
Pest Infestation Due to Design
Adding to the operational challenges, the restaurant's interior design has inadvertently created a conducive environment for pests. Saba elaborated that the interior features plywood panels mounted onto the walls, which, unfortunately, resulted in gaps between the panels and the actual wall. These concealed spaces have become a breeding ground for rats, posing a sanitation risk and necessitating immediate attention. To prevent further damage and to address the pest issue effectively, the couple has opted for a temporary closure to rectify these structural deficiencies.
Renovations and Outdoor Seating
The restaurant, named Khushamadeed and located in Mira Road East, Mumbai, which opened its doors early in 2024, will undergo significant interior redesigning as part of the rectification process. Despite the internal closures, Saba and Niyaz are ensuring that patrons who travel long distances are still accommodated. They have arranged for chairs and tables to be placed outside the restaurant, allowing them to continue serving customers even while the main interior work is underway. This thoughtful approach demonstrates their commitment to customer service amidst challenging circumstances.
