A24 has released the trailer for “Misty Green,” a new Hollywood drama written and directed by Chris Rock.
The film’s logline reads, “Years after her Hollywood breakthrough, a talented actress whose career has stalled
fights for her second act.” Rosalind Eleazar stars in the titular role, leading a cast of Rock, Adam Driver, Daniel Kaluuya, Anna Kendrick and Topher Grace.
In the rapid-fire trailer, we see Misty’s agent, played by Grace, tell her, “I get it, it’s tough out there. I don’t even know if I can get you on ‘Law and Order’ right now.” In the next scene, Rock’s character, a filmmaker, tells her, “The last time I cast you, you punched this bitch in the face.” We later see Misty trying to justify her loose lifestyle to a friend, played by Kendrick. She tells her, “I wake up when I wanna wake up. I sleep when I wanna sleep. I get high when I wanna get high, and I fuck when I wanna fuck.” Kendrick’s character then quips back, “I didn’t know you were a Lil Wayne song, that’s so cool.”
“Misty Green” marks Rock’s third feature in the director’s chair. He made his debut in 2003 with “Head of State,” followed by 2007’s “I Think I Love My Wife” and 2014’s “Top Five.”
Rock also produced the film alongside David Worthen Brooks and Peter Rice. Miles Alva, Nelson George, Shaum S. Sengupta and Max Henke serve as executive producers.
